Between 1966 and 1976 Group 1850 blazed an unforgettable path across the Dutch music scene. With mercurial singer/keyboardist Peter Sjardin at the helm, they made some of the most dark, daring, strange, subversive, mind-altering, barrier-smashing progressive music of the era. A half a century later, their records are revered worldwide by connoisseurs of sixties and seventies psychedelia and underground rock.
Purple Sky is a comprehensive 8-CD box set of the band’s complete works, including many previously unreleased recordings. It contains their sought-after albums Agemo’s Trip To Mother Earth, Paradise Now, Polyandri, 1850 Live and Live On Tour, and Peter Sjardin’s rare solo album Changes (the last four for the first time on CD). It also features 39 non-album bonus tracks, including the original mono mixes of their singles, stereo versions, and seven newly-unearthed unreleased live and demo recordings: 82 tracks in total. All are HQ remastered from the original tapes. The box is completed by a lavish booklet featuring never-before-seen photos and memorabilia from the band’s personal archives, and liner notes by Mike Stax (Ugly Things). As this comprehensive collection makes clear, the comet-like path Peter Sjardin and his fellow musicians blazed across the sixties and seventies skyline burns as brightly as ever.
DUTCH BEAT NUGGETS is the most comprehensive collection of Nederbiet music ever assembled, showcasing many of the greatest and rarest Dutch singles: 8 CDS with 201 tracks by 99 bands - more than nine hours of top quality sounds from 1965-1970, many of them appearing in the digital realm for the first time. All are sourced from the original masters, in their original mono mixes, except in the rare instances that the original releases were in stereo.
This lavishly-packaged anthology includes a 204-page hardcover book with track-by-track liner notes by Mike Stax, an overview of the most important Dutch recording studios by Peter Voskuil, and an essay about the history of Muziek Expres magazine by editor-in-chief Ruud van Dulkenraad. The book also features more than 800 full-color and black and white images, including all the relevant picture sleeves, rare and previously unseen band photos, five years of Muziek Expres magazine covers, unique gig and festival posters and lots more. DUTCH BEAT NUGGETS is a spectacular monument to an era of thrilling, transformative music.
LATIN FUNK GROUP REALITY GET A NEW LIFE ON 12” VINYL AND CD
Reality originating from Summer 70 was the first Caribbean latin-funk group in Amsterdam and even the whole of the Netherlands. With their self-titled debut album, Franky Douglas (guitar), Tony Sherman (vocals), Roël Burnet (percussion), Glenn Gaddum (organ), Leslie Vos (vocals) and Eddy Veldman (drums) presented a highlight in the burgeoning Dutch latin, funk & soulscene. Just like the second album Tony And Reality, the LP has become a coveted collector’s item that people paid large sums of money for. Pseudonym Records is very proud to present the first legitimate reissues of Reality, HQ remastered from the original tapes, and with the full cooperation of the band. From now on, Reality’s music is available to everyone. The CD and downloads contain the albums Reality (1972), with the sensitive and still up-to-date War, and Tony And Reality (1973), plus Tony Sherman’s top 40-hit Tonight. This release contains the original artwork and a detailed liner notes by guitarist / composer Franky Douglas. Reality later continued under the name Solat. The LP Reality is available on 180 gram audiophile pressing in black & transparent blue vinyl.
For eighteen months five teenagers from Amsterdam held the pop world spellbound. The Outsiders were stars from the moment they outshone The Rolling Stones, when they appeared as their supporting act in the ’Brabanthallen’ in March 1966. With all that stardom entailed: hits, delirious fans and exaggerated newspaper headlines about their long hair and wild performances. But the bubble burst before singer Wally Tax's 21st birthday and The Outsiders split up. What remained is the memory of one of the best beat bands that The Netherlands has ever known.
From April 13, 2019 the first single You Mistreat Me that The Outsiders recorded get a new life on the Pseudonym label. In a limited pressing of 200 copies only, in transparent red and white vinyl. Remastered from the original master tapes.
