Jon Savage and Johan Kugelberg are happy to present an exhibition of 50 rare, curious and strange records to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Utrecht Mega Record Fair! Savage and Kugelberg have selected 50 vinyl records that illustrate the dreamlike journey of the vinyl fanatic. Masterpieces of vinyl culture spanning krautrock, psychedelia, punk, reggae and the all-around weird are presented with annotated descriptions and an accompanying catalogue and DJ set.
”Jon and I have spent our lives chasing these glorious artifacts.” says Johan. ”We wanted to illustrate the constant passion of discovery decade after decade, and how this glorious record fair, which we both feel is the best in the world, is a place of discovery, of vision, and of the dreamlike state of the hunt for great, great stuff to spin on the record player as you fondle the sleeve and ready yourself to shelve the record in your collection!”
Records shown include legendary rarities by Can, The Beatles, Lee Scratch Perry, Ennio Morricone, Sun Ra, Joy Division, Fela Kuti alongside the kind of obscure and fascinating discs that you can still find for cheap in the amazing Utrecht Record Fair record bins.
