On November 21 and 22, 2009 the 32nd Mega Record and CD Fair will take place at Jaarbeurs Convention Centre, Utrecht, the Netherlands. Over the last 31 sessions this event has built a reputation as THE spot to find and/or experience the most beautiful music related collections, exhibitions, book presentations, autograph sessions and performances. This 32nd fair will highlight the Punk era, with a special exhibition containing memorabilia and unique material from the legendary USA band the Velvet Underground plus the appearance of two very special guests: Jon Savage and Johan Kugelberg. Both are internationally renowned authors and collectors of modern pop culture.

This worldwide known event was fully booked since June. With 500 stalls and dealers from 45 different countries the show attracts more and more international attention.

At the same weekend the International Collectors Fair celebrates its 30th anniversary. From 1992 onwards the two events take place in the same weekend and visitors have to buy only one ticket to visit them both! Not only you can dig in crates at the record fair, but also you may find beautiful vintage design items and collectables in the other halls.

  • Jon Savage is the author of "Teenage" and "England's Dreaming" and a conspicuous commentator on popular culture. More info: www.jonsavage.com
  • Johan Kugelberg is the author of "Born in the Bronx" on the early history of hip hop, "Vintage Rock T-Shirts" and The Velvet Underground - A New York Artí where Jon Savage has contributed an essay. He is since 1992 the Food and Wine Editor of Ugly Things magazine. His next book is an overview of the punk aesthetic, with contributions from Jon Savage.   • Jon Savage Book Velvet Underground by Johan Kugelberg

    Jon and Johan will talk under supervision of Dutch (music) journalist Jan Vollaard with each other and with the audience about "England's Dreaming", The Velvet Underground, rock fanzines, the history of punk, and the problems and pleasures of archiving and documenting popular culture. They are both available for book signings.

    The exhibition Velvet Underground a New York Art is based on the book with the same name edited by Johan Kugelberg with contributions by Lou Reed, Moe Tucker, Jon Savage and Vaclav Havel. The exhibitions contains several famous Andy Warhol designs like gig posters, handbills and album covers from the early stages of this highly influential avant-garde Rock band.

    Bud Benderbe (USA) will highlight the exhibition with his live interpretation of Velvet Underground covers in lounge/disco style.

    The Dutch Michael Jackson Fan club will show their most rare and beautiful items like golden awards, Neverland memorabilia, stage clothing, coins, limited editions autographs and so on in hall 11.
