On Saturday 20th and Sunday 21st of November 2010 the Mega Record and CD Fair will take place at the Jaarbeurs convention centre. This fair, which will be held for the 34th time, joins music lovers from all over the world in finding records, enjoying live performances or gazing at music related exhibitions.
This autumn a huge collection of 100 images will be shown by 7 of the worlds leading photographers of artists like the Clash, Madonna, David Bowie and Iggy Pop. The Austrian top-collector Hans Pokora will show and autograph his latest encyclopaedia of rare albums. Vinyl is a good investment, fanatic collectors are looking forward to the presentation of the Rare Record Price Guide 2012 and valuation by compiler Ian Shirley
The American photographer George Dubose is the proud owner of a huge collection original images by famous photographers. At the fair he will show over 100 photo’s among some of which are by Mick Rock, well known for his work with David Bowie and REM, and Curtis Knapp, who shot the first magazine cover of Madonna. Apart from these two George Dubose will show images of his work with the Ramones and there are many photos of Chip Simons (Counting Crows), Adrian Boot (Bob Marley), Jeffrey Newbury (Lou Reed) and Josh Cheuse (the Clash).

At the Mega Record and CD Fair a very special book compiled by Hans Pokora will see daylight for the first time. This encyclopaedia contains an overview of rare and unique Folk, Beat, garage and psychedelic albums from the 60’s and 70’s. Pokora has collected albums from this period for over 40 years and his book, named 6001 Record Collector Dreams, is the sixth and last one from his reference series for music lovers. Hans Pokora will be available for valuations and interesting chats about the best period of pop music in the last century.
While the stock market has plummeted prices of unique and wanted albums have gone into orbit. Collectors are willing to pay huge amounts for extremely rare items in mint condition. A very good guide to these is the Rare Record Price Guide 2012. This is a catalogue with a price guide of rare vinyl - from Pink Floyd’s debut album to the most sought after albums of the underground scene, through to the Beatles special export albums, the rarest of the fab4. Author, crate digger, and expert Ian Shirley, journalist of the British magazine Record Collector will explain his method, sign his book and is also available for valuations at the fair.

Dutch artists Frans Room en Peter van Wijngaarden started their Wonderland Light Show in 1967. They toured all over Europe lightning out acts like the Small Faces, the Pretty Things, Sandy Coast, Supersister and the first ‘Flight to Lowlands Paradise’ at the Jaarbeurs Utrecht. During the Mega Record & CD Fair Peter van Wijngaarden will perform his Wonderland Light Show using all breathtaking techniques to create mysterious effects using prism’s, stake screens and transparency slides. Recently Peter helped out creating the two Liquid Light DVD’s: Extravaganza & Innervisions, a project of www.universalcolors.nl Both DVD’s are available at the fair and Peter will be available for questions and information all weekend.
