Book presentation Leonor Jonker: ‘No Future Nu. Punk in Nederland 1977-2012’
Leonor Jonker (Amsterdam, 1987) writes about pop music, modern history and contemporary art. Her book ‘No Future Nu. Punk in Nederland 1977-2012’ was published in February 2012. Jonker describes the story of punk in Holland in its cultural context. A short tour by the Sex Pistols in January 1977 meant the breakthrough of punk in the Netherlands. In the months that followed, punk scenes developed throughout the country, bands released debut singles on their own labels, fanzines were written and punk shops opened their doors. Punk sparked an explosion of creativity in music, journalism, graffiti, literature, art, design and fashion. ‘No Future Nu’ describes how punk continues to influence Dutch arts and culture up until this day: from graffiti to street art and from pirate TV stations to cyberpunk. In the digital age, the punk attitude of do it yourself proves to be more relevant than ever before. Leonor will autograph her ‘No Future Nu’ book close to the stage.
