Mark Hayward has released a series of three books of unpublished and previously unseen images of the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and Queen.
The series is titled ‘On Camera Off Guard’ and the Utrecht Mega Record & CD Fair invited Hayward to launch his first signing session outside the UK for all three books.
Beautifully presented by publishers Anova, the books feature fantastic photographs capturing the bands off guard during photo sessions backstage. See a very young Freddie Mercury eating a biscuit at Ealing Art College, the Stones acting out the ‘We Love You’ video shoot in a church to the Beatles during the Mike & Bernie Winters TV Show.
The Stones book comes with a short and rare DVD of a 8mm home movie of the Stones in Luton 1964. The Beatle’s book is packed with great 8mm home movie footage from Blackpool 1963 to the Magical Mystery Tour outtakes and many beautiful photographs.
Apart from the introduction of his books Hayward will also exhibit some great memorabilia items like Status Quo’s Alan Lancaster’s denim jacket signed by the founding member of the band with a letter of provenance, or a Jimi Hendrix disc and Music Echo award for top musician awarded in 1968. Furthermore there are original Queen images with paintings over the photo to create a different kind of magic video and a Rolling Stones signed TeenBeet magazine. Included are original photo’s from Pink Floyd’s first ever photo session in London, an original film cell from Yellow Submarine showing Jeremy writing a poem with his foot, a Marvin Gaye UK BPI Award, an original Sex Pistols 1970’s poster for ‘We don’t care’ with Glenn Matlock and John Lennon and Yoko Ono’s hardback Grapefruit book signed by them both.
Mark Hayward is also known for his work with the Simpsons TV show and in the past also produced books and a record with Charlie Watts and the Cranberries. He was formerly owner of the Vinyl Experience/UFO shop, London. Hayward will sign his books all weekend at the fair but the numbers are limited.
