World Premiere: Complete Tamla Motown Album Catalogue Exhibit
The Tamla Motown label was founded in Detroit (USA) 1959 by Berry Gordy. A record company which in later years would grow into one of the most famous music labels ever with artists like Stevie Wonder, Smokey Robinson, Marvin Gaye, the Supremes and the Jackson 5. Even a few Dutch artists were related like the Cats. At the fair Dutch collector Marc Janssen (45) will exhibit his private collection with every single album ever published by Motown. “I started when I turned 15 and my collection – which exclusively exhibits the original pressings – starts from 1961 to the mid 90ties when cd’s were taking over” according to Marc. Apart from the commercial albums the collection also contains ‘private’ pressings which were published for special occasions like benefit dinners or celebrations. Marc is extremely proud of the album The Great Gospel Stars the first Motown LP ever and The Return of the Blue Boss by Amos Milburn. Because of his famous collection and knowledge of soul music Marc Janssen is friendly with many artists in the Motown club and regularly meets stars like Diana Ross, Lionel Ritchie, Erykah Badu and Bobby Womack, usually in America but sometimes they visit his home when they are in Holland for performances.
